Respond to an Outstanding Demand

The Taxpayer can submit the response online to the outstanding demand by either choosing to ‘Agree’ or ‘Disagree’ with the demand.

Perform the following steps for Responding to the Outstanding Demand.

  1. Logon to ‘e-Filing’ Portal https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
  2. Go to the ‘Pending Actions’ menu and Click ‘Response to Outstanding Demand’
  3. Click on 'Submit Response' button.
  4. Select any one option

    • oDemand is correct
    • oDisagree with demand (Either in Full or Part)
  5. If option “Demand is correct” is selected, then perform the following step.

      • o ​Select further any one option
        • (a) Not paid yet
        • (b) Yes, already paid challan has CIN
    • If option (a) Not paid yet, then make the payment and provide
    • If option (b) Yes, already paid challan has CIN, then provide challan details and attach challan in pdf format.
  6. If option “Disagree with demand (Either in Full or Part)” is selected then add Reasons for disagreeing with demand and submit the response.
  7. Go to https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/​​​​​​​​​​
