TfL's operates one of the largest bus networks in the world consisting of over 19,000 bus stops and approximately 700 routes served by some 8000 buses daily.

American English uses the spellings buses, busing, bused for the verb. A bus is a large motor vehicle which carries passengers from one place to another. Buses drive along particular routes, and you have to pay to travel in them.
But 1929 was also the year a Suffolk-based Dennis bus, known as 'Ermintrude,' first entered service and the vehicle – reputed to be the oldest working bus in the UK – is still going strong nearly 100 years later.

The Neoplan Jumbocruiser was an articulated double-deck multi-axle city coach built by Neoplan Bus GmbH between 1975 and 1992. At 18 metres (59 ft) in length, 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) wide and 4 m (13 ft) in height, it is in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest bus with a capacity for 170 passengers.

Why does only England have double decker buses?
The main reason for their continued popularity was because the single-level buses simply couldn't hold enough people, and the longer accordion version couldn't handle London's narrow streets. People also liked the viewing capacity and having open tops.

At 150,000 square metres (37 acres), the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in Chennai, India, is the largest bus station in Asia. The Woodlands Bus Interchange in Singapore is one of the busiest bus interchanges in the world, handling up to 400,000 passengers daily across 42 bus services.
There are two main reasons double decker transit buses are almost non-existent here in the US: one, low overpasses are very common here, and two, until recently there were no double decker transit buses even available here in the US.
The possibility of adopting such rolling stock on UK rail tracks has, however, always been precluded. A lack of infrastructural space – principally down to different gauges and low tunnels – has been reason alone to quash the idea of double-decker trains.
For a brief time in 1976 the city experimented with double-decker buses. They purchased a total of eight. I distinctly recall riding one on the M5 line. Obviously, it didn't work out and within two years they were all gone, but they stand as one of my obscure '70s NYC memories.

Lamorna and Gareth Hollingsworth bought their 25-year-old bus for ÂŁ5,000 in 2020 and spent two years turning it into a home. N ot many people's homes can move. Or generate their own electricity. But then, not many people live on a double decker bus, converted into a home in a two-year labour of love.
After all, landmarks might confuse passengers that the bus would travel to them, whereas the buses are given a real human feel by using names. So since 1999, every new bus that has entered the fleet has been named after a deceased person.
