McCartney said Lennon's decision to leave the band was driven by his pursuit of social justice, including movements such as "bagism," where he and his wife, Yoko Ono, wore bags to urge people not to judge others based on their appearance.

More often than not, Harrison was concerned with spirituality and the internal struggles but on this track, he chose to put his feelings on the canvas and aim one directly as McCartney. Luckily, the two became close friends again before Harrison's tragic death in 2001.

The truth is, their split was as inevitable as time passing by. Lennon was turning 30 and was no longer the same person who founded The Beatles all those years prior. He wanted to flex his artistic muscles in a new direction, and the Plastic Ono Band was the destination he wanted to explore.

And who is America's favorite Beatle? Paul McCartney ranked highest, at 35 percent; following by John Lennon (29%), Ringo Starr (11%), and George Harrison (8%). However, there is a gender gap: men favored John, while women preferred Paul.
